February 15th, 2009 - Krewe of Good Friends of the Oaks Mardi Gras Parade-
Parade rolls through downtown Port Allen.

March - Holy Family Catholic Church "Bear Fair"
The annual school fair features rides, games, food, and fun.

April 3, 4 & 5th, 2009 - “Kite Fest Louisiane”
This one of a kind festival held at the West Baton Rouge Soccer Complex off Hwy #415 at Rosedale Road features fun, games, music, and special kite flying performances.

Special Student Day on Friday, April 3, for school groups, free of charge. Saturday and Sunday, join us as kites take to the skies of Louisiana in a dazzling display of beauty and fight.

Everyone can “Go Fly A Kite” at this annual event. From home built kites to professional two line kites, we will fill the sky and provide an opportunity for children and adults to learn, fly or watch. Free and open to the public.

July 4th Westside July 4th Fest:
This great event is held from 4:00 – 11:00 pm. on July 4th. Jambalaya Cook-Off, food & drink vendors, clowns, great music and Fireworks light up the sky on the river at 9:00 p.m. Held on the levee just off Court Street in Downtown Port Allen. Exit #153 to LA 1 North, Right on Court street to the Levee. Free and Open to the public.

October 1 – October 31 – Angola Art; A Sampling
Art by inmates at the Louisiana State penitentiary from the private collection of Debbie Cook from Port Allen. Held during regular business hours at the West Baton Rouge Library, LA 1 North in Port Allen. Free and open to the public.

October 5 – Sugarfest
An annual celebration of the importance of sugar in West Baton Rouge’s history, this event was voted the Top 20 event in the southeast in 2001 and 2002. It includes living history demonstrations, food and mule driven grinding, music, sweets contest and much more. Held at The West Baton Rouge Museum, 845 N. October 11 & 12 – Oldies But Goodies Fest & Smokin’ Oldies Barbeque Cook-Off
Held on the grounds of the West Baton Rouge Tourist Information & Conference Center , I-10 West at Exit #151. This two day event includes a State Championship Cookoff (IBCA Sanctioned), on Saturday, including categories for Professional, Amateur and a special Children’s “Lil Smokin” Cook-off as well as a Lemonade Tasting contest on Saturday. Over $6000 dollars in prizes will be awarded. The public can enjoy the barbeque, great music by Bit’s & Pieces, food & drink vendors and special activities for children. Sunday, brings the crowd to their feet dancing to the oldies music by Mason McClain and Elvis Tribute Artist, Brandon Bennett. Antique cars, oldies food, costume, Jitterbug, Hula Hoop and Twist contests, children’s activities and much more round out this great West Baton Rouge Festival. October 26 -Fest on the Levee:
Great Food is assured at this annual event sponsored by the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Brusly. Great music and family fun. Contact St. John Catholic Church at 225-381-9556.

November 9 – Veterans on Parade:
This annual parade organized by a group of community volunteers as a way of honoring all those who serve and have served our country as part of the United States armed forces. The parade is sponsored by area organizations who give all veterans a chance to ride and view the parade at no cost. The parade starts at 2:00 p.m. and begins at Revault Park and proceeds down Jefferson Avenue and makes its way to Heroes Plaza for a special ceremony honoring the veterans as well as music, food, and lots of family fun. To get involved in the parade with a float, volunteer, information on veterans wanting to participate, or a sponsorship contact the WBRCVB 225-344-2920.

Christmas in the Big House and Christmas in the Cabin
The West Baton Rouge Museum puts on its holiday best, complete with candlelit grounds, for special tours and holiday treats. First Sunday in December.
