
The Addis Volunteer Fire Department Mardi Gras Parade is held on Sunday, two weeks before Mardi Gras in Addis. The Krewe of Good Friends Parade is held the Sunday before Mardi Gras in Port Allen.
Bring your lawn chairs and come out to enjoy this one of a kind festival. Kites of all shapes and sizes fill the skies at this festival, the only Kite Festival in the state of Louisiana. This unique festival combines professional kite flyers from all over the country who come to enjoy performing with exotic kites and do kite ballets in the skies over West Baton Rouge. 10,000 people annually attend this festival held in April of each year. This family friendly event includes kite making, kite design and many fun events for the children. This is a free event to the public. The best view anywhere in the Baton Rouge area for 4th. of July fireworks on the Mississippi River. Held July 4th in downtown Port Allen at the Riverfront on the Mississippi River Levee. The fun starts anually at 4:00 pm and ends at 10:30 pm. Free to the public and includes face painting, magicians, clowns and space walks for the children. Beverage & food vendors line the levee for all to enjoy. Live entertainment with several local bands allow the crowds plenty of dance music to enjoy before and after the spectacular fireworks show on the river.
Sugar Fest is the celebration of sugar's importance in West Baton Rouge Parish. Sugar Fest was voted one of the Top 20 events in the Southeast. It includes living history demonstrations, food and mule-driven grinding, music, a cake walk and other activies related to Sugar Plantation Life as it was years ago. Visit the six historic sugar plantation structures including 1830's planter's big house, slave cabin, 1850's share croppers cabin, shotgun house and more. The Museum holds a 22 foot working model of a sugar mill and many interactive Louisiana history exhibits. Sugar Fest is free to the public and is held at the West Baton Rouge Museum the first Sunday in October.

Citizens, businesses and organizations pay tribute to all sevicemen and woman for their dedication to this nation. All veterans can participate on the floats free of charge. Come out and join the crowds and show your support for these brave men and women. There is a special presentation at the end of the parade held at the West Baton Rouge Court House Veterans Memorial wall.
