Sip into Spring: Mead and Berry Wine Workshop at the West Baton Rouge Museum Port Allen –– Sign up to take part in a four part Mead and Berry Wine Making Workshop taught by West Baton Rouge artist and cookbook author, Mary Guarisco. Learn about fermenting, straining, pouring, and bottling. Classes will include guest speakers such as bee keepers and berry farmers and will conclude with a spring picnic where participants will enjoy sampling home-made bread, cheese, mead made from local honey and wine made from seasonal berries. Classes will take place on February 22, 29, March 28, and April 25 from 10 am – Noon. Advanced, paid registration is required. The fee of $100 for the four classes covers all supplies and is payable by cash, credit card or check made out to West Baton Rouge Museum. Mary Guarisco is a native of Erwinville, Louisiana and is an accomplished artist and writer. She honed her craft by attending workshops at Louisiana State University under Kinzy Branham. She studied under Italian sculptor Bruno Luccchesi and Lincoln Fox at the Scottsdale Artist School in Arizona. While in Scottsdale, she also studied life casting under Willa Shalit. Mary’s portfolio includes painting, life casting, and sculpture. She has a number of commissioned pieces that are now owned by private collectors and area museums. Mary has also authored three local history books and one cookbook. This workshop is in conjunction with the exhibit, Artists of West Baton Rouge. This exhibit features art works from West Baton Rouge natives as well as artists currently living in the parish including Ms. Guarisco. Space is limited.
